Family Law encompasses several different proceedings in Family Court.

Those proceedings are Custody and Visitation, Spousal and Child Support, modification upwards or downwards of Spousal and Child Support, and Family Offense proceedings.  A Family Offense proceeding can originate in the Criminal Court or in the Family Court, or both.  Neglect proceedings must be handled exclusively in the Family Court.

Child custody and Visitation, Spousal and Child Support, are included in a Divorce proceeding.  But the significant difference between Family Court and Supreme Court Proceedings is that only the Supreme Court can adjudicate the division of assets and property.
